MoU Signing Ceremony for Women’s Economic Empowerment and Global Entrepreneurship

Islamabad, June 05 2026 – Aurat Foundation, Community Development Foundation (CDF), and KREATE IDEAS TO ELEVATE STORIES (KITES) marked an important step toward strengthening women’s economic participation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic collaboration on women’s economic empowerment, global entrepreneurship, and leadership development. The MoU was signed by Mr. Naeem Ahmed Mirza, Executive Director of Aurat Foundation; Ms. Mariam Khan, Executive Director of CDF; and Colonel Asad Mehmood, CEO of KITES.

The partnership has been developed in response to the challenges faced by women home-based workers and women-led small and medium enterprises in Pakistan, including limited market access, digital exclusion, informal work conditions, and fewer leadership pathways. Through this collaboration, the partners aim to create a practical support system where women entrepreneurs can strengthen their skills, improve their businesses, and connect with wider national and international opportunities.

Under this MoU, Aurat Foundation will contribute its experience in women’s rights, gender mainstreaming, safeguarding, policy advocacy, and national networks. CDF will support grassroots mobilization, local coordination, community engagement, training logistics, participant tracking, and follow-up support. KITES will serve as the technical and implementation partner, providing career and enterprise counselling, digital platform support, curriculum design, global institutional and corporate linkages, international compliance guidance, and mentorship coordination.

The scope of collaboration includes beneficiary identification and onboarding, capacity-building sessions, business advisory support, digital literacy, e-commerce, financial inclusion, export readiness, intellectual property awareness, leadership development, and structured global matchmaking. The partnership will also support policy and advocacy efforts for the recognition of women home-based workers, social protection, fair trade practices, and stronger pathways for women-led SMEs.

The main purpose of the MoU is to build a gender-responsive and globally connected ecosystem where women home-based workers and SME owners can formalize and scale their work, access fair markets, increase income opportunities, and take on stronger leadership roles. The initiative also places clear emphasis on safeguarding, informed consent, data protection, transparent reporting, and impact tracking through gender-disaggregated data and regular monitoring.

By combining advocacy, community outreach, technical expertise, and global linkages, this collaboration seeks to open new opportunities for women entrepreneurs and contribute to inclusive economic growth in Pakistan.
