Community Awareness Session on CNIC Registration and Voter Education in Village Khaskheli, Shahdadpur, District Sanghar

Under the UNDP-supported CNIC and Voter Education Project, Aurat Foundation conducted a community awareness session with rural women in Village Khaskheli, Tehsil Shahdadpur, District Sanghar. The session focused on highlighting the importance of obtaining a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and exercising the right to vote.

A large number of young women gathered within a short time to attend the session. They expressed their excitement that a NADRA Mobile Registration Van would soon visit their village, making it easier for them to obtain their first CNICs.

The participants shared that there had previously been little awareness in their community about updating or obtaining CNICs after marriage. Many young women also said they wanted CNICs so they could apply for driving licences and submit applications for the government’s Pink Scooty Scheme.

The girls requested Aurat Foundation to continue working in their village and provide them with training opportunities, saying they did not want to be left behind their urban counterparts. They thanked Aurat Foundation for selecting their village for the initiative and expressed that obtaining CNICs would enable them to exercise their right to vote and participate actively in the democratic process.
