Aurat Foundation celebrated 40th Anniversary in Manchester, UK

Aurat Foundation celebrated 40th Anniversary in Manchester, UK, on 9 October 2026, at Community Hub Hall. Senior Labour Party Parliamentarian Afzal Khan chaired the event. Aurat Foundation conferred “Pioneer of Women Political Emancipation Award” upon Emmeline Pankhurst (posthumously) in recognition of her fearless and consistent struggle for women suffrage in Great Britain in the early 20th century. The movement achieved heroic success in 1918 when women were granted limited right to vote, which later culminated in 1928 when women got complete adult suffrage right to vote and contest elections. The Emmeline Pankhurst Award was received by Nadia Ali, chair of GM4Women, a foundation established in Manchester by Emmeline’s great grand-daughter Helen Pankhurst in 2018. The award was presented to Nadia Ali by MP Afzal Khan Manchester and Naeem Mirza from Aurat Foundation.
