AF Quetta Team Meets Inspector General of Balochistan Prisons to Strengthen Partnership on Prison Reforms

The Aurat Foundation Quetta team called on Capt. (R) Asim Khan, Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan Prisons, to discuss future collaboration on promoting prisoners’ rights and improving access to justice in the province.

During the meeting, the Aurat Foundation introduced its European Union-supported project aimed at enhancing prisoners’ access to justice, legal aid, rehabilitation services, and successful reintegration into society. The discussion focused on strengthening institutional cooperation to support prison reforms and capacity-building initiatives across Balochistan.

The Inspector General warmly welcomed the proposed partnership with the Aurat Foundation and expressed his commitment to working jointly on initiatives that contribute to a more responsive and rights-based prison system.

Mr. Ziaullah Khan Tareen DIG Prisons also participated in the meeting. The Inspector General directed the DIG Prisons to review the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Following the review, the IG confirmed that the MoU would be signed with the Aurat Foundation, with the signing ceremony expected to take place next week.

The meeting marked an important step toward formalizing collaboration between the Balochistan Prisons Department and the Aurat Foundation to advance prison reforms, legal aid, rehabilitation, and the protection of prisoners’ rights.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Aurat Foundation team presented the Aurat Foundation Book to the Inspector General of Balochistan Prisons as a token of appreciation and to highlight the Foundation’s continued commitment to human rights, social justice, and inclusive development in Pakistan.
