Women Safe Space (Strengthening women’s Self-Reliance and Community Engagement)

Women Safe Space (WSS) has been successfully set up in a house located at College Colony, Swat during July – September. The location was carefully selected for its accessibility to women, being in close proximity to the courts, hospital, and market, ensuring ease of approach and safety for beneficiaries.

The building comprises two rooms with a veranda and open space, designed to cater to the needs of flood-affected women and girls:

  • Room One: Equipped as a legal desk and private one-to-one counseling room, providing confidential support to women requiring legal aid and individual psychological counseling.
  • Room Two: Designated for group counseling sessions to allow women to share experiences, receive guidance, and benefit from collective healing practices.

Recognizing the needs of mothers, a dedicated children’s corner has been established for children accompanying flood-affected women, particularly those experiencing trauma. This provision ensures that mothers can engage in counseling sessions without distraction, while children are cared for in a safe and supportive environment.

The open space within the premises has been developed into a sports and relaxation area, where women can engage in light recreational activities. This component not only provides stress relief but also promotes psychosocial well-being and resilience among beneficiaries.

The setup of the WSS reflects a holistic approach to recovery and empowerment, ensuring women have access to psychological counseling, legal support, and a safe, enabling environment to heal and rebuild their lives with dignity.
