Aurat Foundation’s 40-year journey is inseparable from the story of Pakistan’s democratic and feminist struggle.

Aurat Foundation’s 40-year journey is inseparable from the story of Pakistan’s democratic and feminist struggle. This commemorative volume is more than a record it is a testament to the quiet courage and stellar commitment of those who built a movement brick by brick, often in times of censorship, violence, and rollback. From legal advocacy to street-level mobilisation, Aurat Foundation has consistently been the conscience-keeper on gender justice in Pakistan refusing to be silenced, side-lined, or sanitised. I am truly grateful for their support to women of all classes in Pakistan.

These pages, layered with memory, movement, and meaning, are not nostalgia they are a call to action. They remind us that every inch of democratic space for women was claimed through resistance and resolve. As someone who stood shoulder to shoulder in many of these trenches, I know that Aurat Foundation’s work has never been performative it has been persistent, policy-driven, and profoundly political.

I salute the remarkable team behind this effort and behind the Foundation’s long arc of impactful action. This archive will endure, not just as a chronicle of the past, but as a compass for the future.
