My association with Aurat Foundation is very old. I myself was a student leader then Sukkur
CAC invited me to a training on gender equality and advocacy. I think in 1996, Fatima Al-Zahra was the trainer. At that time, I myself was ahead in the leadership of girls in college, so this training was very useful for me.
After that, I got the opportunity to come to Karachi for the Political Education Program and I found my path in life and I got involved with Aurat Foundation.
Even if I had some heartbreaks at the local level, a brave and practically supportive cooperative leader like Mallika held my hand.
Today, Aurat Foundation has been 40 years old and we are continuing to fulfill Nigar’s dream. No matter how much work we have done, it is associated with the name Aurat Foundation, which is less than anything to be proud of.
Standing with an institution that has not only fought for women’s rights in Pakistan but also put its role in making laws for it at the top of the list.
The Aurat Foundation advocates for women in front of representatives from the grassroots to the parliament.
I have worked on the front line in many cases.
I remember how much it was highlighted in the Shaista Alamani case. Such an institution that did not even listen to the family members and kept moving forward by responding everywhere and everywhere.
I have been a part of the local government system since 2001 and have been doing this representation as a job. Till today, I have not thought of any government job. The joy of being associated with the Aurat Foundation is rarely found anywhere.
The Aurat Foundation also organized exposure visits and got the opportunity to go to the national and international levels.
I went to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to see women’s autonomy and got the opportunity to learn. We are the architects of peace..
The credit for this goes to our Shafiq leader Naeem Ahmed Mirza who always keeps us with him, considering him as a sign of Nigar Ji, Mumtaz Ji, Asim Malik, Shamaila Ji, Malka. Hina, Madam Mehnaz, all of them are my family and I am proudly present with my family today on this journey of 40 years. May Allah Almighty grant us double progress every day, Amen
