GEP Karachi celebrated the National Women’s Day at a Ladies Dhaba, located on Maripur Road, Karachi on 14th February, 2017. WDFP (GEP sub grantee under cycle 7a), is running a display/ community center along with a ladies dhaba, which is a popular and unique enterprise in a low income area of Maripur. Community women come and spend their leisure time and use it for social interaction, reading /library and recreational activities, besides skill development.
GEP held a special session/ dialogue of women activists and the community women gathered at the dhaba, to mark national women's day. The program was attended by 50 community women from all walks of life. Ms Mahnaz Rahman, Resident Director, AF, Ms Malka Khan, SPO, AF, Muneezeh Khan, Research Specialist, GEP, Ms Sabiha Shah, Chairperson, WDFP and Ms Nuzhat Shirin, Coordinator, NCHR-Sindh, were among the key note speakers. The National Women’s Day marked the achievements and struggles of women in the attainment of their rights and opportunities, towards an enlightened future.
